Creamy jalapeno dip using My Nana's red chile tortilla chips

My Nana's Creamy Jalapeño Chip Dip

Ingredients:

  • 8oz cream cheese
  • 3oz half and half
  • 4oz sour cream
  • 1oz to 2oz chopped jalapeños

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend thoroughly until smooth. Serve chilled.

Tortilla soup using My Nana's tortilla strips

Tortilla Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1- 8oz bag of My Nana's Tortilla Strips
  • 8 Tbsp. canola oil
  • 4 oz sour cream
  • 1 diced onion
  • 4 - 6 minced garlic clove
  • 2 - 14oz canned diced tomatoes
  • 14oz can of frozen corn
  • 8 cups chicken stock
  • 3/4 to 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 to Tbsp. chili powder
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 4 chicken breast cooked and shredded

Directions:

Using a 6 - 8 qt stock pot, pre-heat canola oil. Lightly sauté onions and minced garlic in canola oil. Add canned tomatoes with juice and chicken stock to the sautéed onions and garlic, gently stir. Add cumin, chili powder, and bay leaves, bring to boil. Reduce heat to a simmer. Add corn, shredded chicken breast and cayenne. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes. Serve in bowl and sprinkle with My Nana's Tortilla Strips on top.

If desired, add any combination of: chopped cilantro, diced avocado, grated cheese and sour cream.

Simple burrito casserole using My Nana's flour tortillas

Simple Burrito Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 La Canasta Flour Tortillas
  • 1 to 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can chicken broth, heated in shallow pan
  • 1 package shredded cheese, Mexican blend or cheddar
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • My Nana's Corn Tortilla chips or Strips for topping

Directions:

Brown ground beef in large skillet. Drain and rinse beef and return to skillet. Add salsa and seasonings. Stir and simmer until thoroughly mixed. Spray a casserole dish with a non-stick cooking spray. Place a small amount of the beef mixture on the bottom of the casserole. Quickly dip a flour tortilla into warmed chicken broth and place on top of beef. Continue layering beef, cheese, flour tortilla, etc. ending with cheese. Place a couple of handfuls of crumbled corn tortilla chips or strips on top. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes or until top begins to brown and casserole is bubbly. Serve with sour cream, salsa, shredded lettuce, and chopped tomato.

(If you like it hot, add sliced jalapenos to the beef mixture or just layer them in.)

Soft tacos using My Nana's flour tortillas

Grande Soft Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 10 La Canasta Flour Tortillas
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 freshly chopped tomato
  • 1 small freshly chopped onion
  • 1 lb grated cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 head shredded lettuce
  • salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

In large skillet partially cook the ground beef. Add tomato, onions, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Continue to cook until completely done. Drain cooked ground beef and set aside. Heat each La Canasta Flour Tortilla in a moderately heated un-greased skillet for 15-20 seconds on each side using a flipping utensil.

Optional: My Nana's Hot Sauce or My Nana's Salsa Fresca salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.

Burritos using My Nana's flour tortillas

Dinner Burritos

Ingredients:

  • 10 La Canasta Flour Tortillas
  • 1 lb cooked/shredded meat (chicken, beef, pork chorizo and eggs, or refried beans)
  • 12oz shredded cheese
  • 12oz My Nana's Hot Sauce or My Nana's Salsa Fresca salsa

Directions:

Place 1 La Canasta Flour Tortilla in a moderately heated un-greased skillet for 15-20 seconds. Heating each side using a flipping utensil. Place 2 spoonfuls of your hot cooked meat (or beans) on the La Canasta Flour Tortilla. Fold one side and roll Tortilla. Top with My Nana's Hot Sauce or My Nana's Salsa Fresca salsa.

Fajita's using My Nana's flour tortillas

Fajitas

Ingredients:

  • 10 La Canasta Flour Tortillas
  • 3 lbs beef tenderloin/boneless chicken
  • 1 - 8oz bottle of Italian salad dressing
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 2 white onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • Spices: Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Cumin

Directions:

Cut meat in very thin strips and marinate in the Italian salad dressing for 2 hours. Slice bell peppers, white onions, and tomatoes and set aside. Drain meat. In large stir fry skillet, partially cook the meat. Add Bell pepper, onions, tomatoes and spices (to taste). Continue to stir fry until meat is cooked. Place fajitas in the middle of a La Canasta Flour Tortilla. Add your favorite toppings. Fold on one side, roll and serve.

Quesadillas using My Nana's flour tortillas

Quesadillas

Directions:

Stove Top: Sprinkle evenly with one of your favorite cheeses (1-2oz.) on 1 La Canasta Flour Tortilla, fold in half. Place on a moderately heated skillet and allow tortilla to cook to a toast. Turn over with a spatula and repeat toasting on the other side. Continue until the flour tortillas is crisp on both sides.

Microwave: Following the above instruction, place the folded La Canasta Flour Tortilla in a microwave. Heat for 20 seconds, turn over and cook for another 20 seconds or until cheese is melted.

After School Special

Ingredients:

  • La Canasta Flour Tortillas
  • 1 package hot dogs
  • sliced cheese (use your favorite)
  • My Nana's Hot Sauce or My Nana's Salsa Fresca salsa

Directions:

Slice hot dog lengthwise down the center. Open cheese slice and cut in half laying the 2 half's in the middle of sliced hot dog. Place hot dog and cheese in the middle of a La Canasta Flour Tortilla. Put in microwave for 20 seconds or until cheese has melt. Roll into a burrito. Wait a few minutes to cool before eating.

Optional: Add My Nana's Hot Sauce or My Nana's Salsa Fresca to your liking.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup My Nana's "Traditional" Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cream cheese

Directions:

Mix ingredients and serve chilled. Enjoy with My Nana's "Best Tasting" Tortilla Chips.

My Nana's Salsa Fresca

Chunky Salsa Fresca Chip Dip

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup My Nana's "Restaurant Style" Salsa Fresca
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cream cheese

Directions:

Mix ingredients and serve chilled. Enjoy with My Nana's "Best Tasting" Tortilla Chips.

My Nana's Salsa Fresca

My Nana's Simple & Easy Party Nachos

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz My Nana's "Best Tasting" Tortilla Chips
  • 12 oz bottle My Nana's Hot Sauce
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese or creamy nacho cheese
  • 8 oz cooked seasoned ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cut diced green onions
  • Optional: jalapeno pepper slices

Directions:

Place tortilla chips on a 9"" casserole dish. Layer My Nana’s Tortilla Chips with cooked seasoned ground beef. Top with the shredded or creamy nacho cheese. Bake in preheated oven or microwave for 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Top with sour cream, tomatoes, jalapeno pepper slices, green onions, My Nana’s Hot Sauce and ENJOY!

My Nana’s Simple & Easy Buñuelos

My Nana’s “Simple & Easy” Buñuelos

Ingredients:

  • My Nana’s “Best Tasting” Uncooked Flour Tortillas
  • 1-2 cups of canola oil
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon and Sugar
  • Powdered Sugar

Directions:

Pre-heat the oil at Medium high temperature using a medium size frying pan. Pour enough oil in pan at ¼ inch level. Dip the tortilla end into the pan. If the tortilla bubbles around the edges, the oil is ready. Use a pair of tongs to place one uncooked flour tortilla in the pre-heated oil. Allow it to brown on both sides. Once the tortilla is browned place the “Buñuelo” on paper towels and add your favorite topping and Enjoy!
